On Sunday, May 2nd the Disaster Response team at Berea UMC was active. That night one church family was evacuated through waste deep water, and on Monday morning the team began working with those impacted to remove standing water from their living spaces, basements and crawlspaces. Berea UMC was able to supply a generator and fuel to one family for several days. They also supplied dehumidifiers and fans to homeowners to begin the drying out process.
This past Saturday - May 8th - they had 20 volunteers working on 5 projects. In all, the disaster response team had 7 truck/trailer loads of flood debris removed from 8 homeowners' property, completed mud-out/tear-outs at 3 homes and assisted people at 8 homes where water was removed from living spaces, basements, and crawl space.
Close to 30 members of the surrounding community were directly impacted through the efforts of those in Berea's congregation. Praise God for lives touched through this ministry this week!
