The Kentucky Conference Youth Mission trip touched the lives of 16 Kentuckians and many who lived in the Honduras village of Carnizuelar. Cathy Mejia and Jennifer Davis taught VBS with valuable assistance from the other Kentuckians who rotated in on a daily basis from their work in construction. We taught in the kindergarten building, which looked like it would fall in at any moment. After a very hard rain, we had a river (slight exaggeration) running through the building. The roof leaked and we scrambled to protect the children and our materials from the rain. We want to build these children a new kindergarten this summer when we return. The cost will be approximately $8000.
With your help, we are going to have another jewelry sale on Tuesday afternoon of Annual Conference (June 12). If you have jewelry in good condition that you would like to donate, please contact your District Superintendent. Any leftover jewelry will go to Red Bird for them to sell in their Mission store. If you would like to donate money, just make out a check to Kentucky Conference Treasurer, and send it to Michael Watts at the Conference Office. Earmark your check “Honduras Kindergarten.” The address is 7400 Floydsburg Rd., Crestwood, KY 40014.
