Not to brag, but the Children & Family Ministry Team in the Kentucky Annual Conference is truly one of the most life-giving and productive groups we have ever been a part of. Led by Susan Skaggs for 8 consecutive years, the team grew both in membership and output. Since 2014, we have organized 3 free conference-style events for Kentucky Conference parents and leaders, sponsored a children's ministry intern, promoted A Time for Children with Leanne Hadley and supported dozens of brand new ministry startups for children through Children & Poverty grants.
Now under the co-leadership of Kristina White (Southern Hills UMC, Lexington) and Sarah Flannery (First UMC Offerings Community, Lexington), we intend to keep the momentum going! Our semi-annual team meetings are times of devotion and sharing, as well as tough decisions and meaningful discussion. Our goal is to empower parents and leaders of children in our conference to disciple children both at church and at home.
If we can answer questions about children and family ministry, coach a new children's minister or offer resources to a church that loves kids, please let us know! We exist to make children's ministry more than just childcare in Kentucky churches - it is a training ground where today's leaders ARE the children, and where adults learn and grow right along with them.
We hope to see you at the Families of Faith Conference on November 5 at First UMC in Frankfort, KY. Please go to www.kyumc.org/childrensministry for more information. Until then,Your KAC Children & Family Ministry Team
