UMCOR Response to Haiti Earthquake – How You Can Help

A magnitude 7.0 earthquake has devastated Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Millions have been affected, and the death toll is expected to be in the thousands. It is unknown how many people are trapped in the city’s collapsed buildings.

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) is responding to this disaster. You can help with your prayers and your donations of health kits and money.

Health kits provide basic necessities to people who have been forced to leave their homes because of human conflict or natural disaster. You can learn what specific items to include in a health kit at http://new.gbgm-umc.org/umcor/getconnected/supplies/. (Note: The GBGM and UMCOR sites are experiencing extremely high traffic. If you cannot access the site now, please try again later.) Approximately $12 worth of materials go into a health kit.
Please mail the kits directly to
UMCOR Sager Brown Depot
P.O Box 850 131 Sager Brown Road
Baldwin, LA 70514-0850.

UMCOR is also collecting money to help the people of Haiti. You may donate using Advance #418325. One hundred percent of your donations will go directly to relief in the wake of this earthquake.

Please be in prayer for everyone impacted by the earthquake and for those responding to the disaster.

How to Give
You may make your donation to the Haiti earthquake response in three ways.

1. Make check payable to your local church, and write “Haiti Emergency” and “Advance #418325” on the check. Put your check in the offering plate or give it to your church treasurer.

2. Donate online at www.umcor.org. (Note: The GBGM and UMCOR sites are experiencing extremely high traffic. If you cannot access the site now, please try again later.)

3. Donate by phone using a credit card. The number is (888) 252-6174.
