Summer Mission Trip

It's time once again to start planning for the Kentucky Conference Youth Mission trip! Conference youth will travel back to Honduras to continue on with the work that was started over the past two summers. High school students who have completed at least their freshman year are invited to join us as we share the love of Christ with the people of Honduras. For the past couple of years we have had a great time being introduced to the Honduran people of the Algalta Valley in the region of Olancho. Honduras Outreach Inc, besides being a great host, has been doing significant work here since 1987. We have come to appreciate their “heart for God and hand to man” as they work alongside more than 200 villages in this area to improve the qualities of life, educating in heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Mrs Jennifer Davis, our Bishop’s wife, is the one that first introduced us to this group in 2010. She had been doing work with them from her time in the North Georgia Conference. And we are pleased again that Jennifer will be making the trip with us in 2014.

Our goal is to have two young people aged 16-22 from each of the 12 districts in the KY Conference. Talk to your pastor and district superientendent to see what funds they might help to provide. Many churches and districts are willing to go in for 1/3 cost of the trip, leaving only 1/3 to raise through friends and families support letters. Most person taking this trip in the past have found no problem getting funded

We will gather in Louisville on June 27, 2014, and leave for Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on June 28. During our time in Honduras, we will work with the Pech Indians in a neighborhood of the village of Carbon in central Honduras. The Pech are an indigenous people for whom Spanish is a second language. While in Honduras, our youth will have the opportunity to help with Vacation Bible School with the Pech children. They will also have opportunities to help with the infrastructure of the village as they assist with the building of latrines and chimneys and the pouring of concrete floors.

This is an opportunity for our youth to be the hands and feet of Christ as they carry the message of Christ deep into the heart of Honduras. The group will return to Louisville on July 5th.

The total cost for the trip (airfare, transportation, meals, and housing) is $2000 per person. To register online:

Blessed Be the Ties!

Through your generous support, our youth have been involved in connecting with many children in Honduras and we are asking for your support again this year.

With your help, we are going to have another jewelry sale during the 2014 Annual Conference. However, this year, in addition to jewelry, we will also sell gently used men's ties! If you have jewelry, neckties, bow ties or even bolero ties that are in good condition and you would like to donate them, please contact your District Superintendent.

Any leftover jewelry or ties will go to Red Bird for them to sell in their mission store. If you would simply like to donate money, make your check payable to the Kentucky Conference Treasurer and send it to Joni Way at the conference office. Earmark your check "Honduras Mission Trip." The address is 7400 Floydsburg Road, Crestwood, KY 40014.

Thank you in advance for your support. We are hoping to increase the number of youth that will be blessed to be a blessing as they learn the joys of being in the mission fields for Christ.
