Columbia District churches put a new twist on Vacation Bible School this year. Maupin, Concord, Albany First, and Chestnut Grove churches worked together for months planning and preparing for VBS in the park. These churches followed the example of Jesus and took VBS to the people.

The churches planned a youth camping trip to Dale Hollow State Park in Cumberland County from June 13 to 15.  On Friday night the youth delivered flyers throughout the campgrounds inviting children to Saturday's "GO GREEN" VBS. The day was long (10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.) and hot (96 degrees), but even with extreme heat our registration of 93 deviated only slightly. The theme of VBS taught the children about creation and how God put humankind in charge of it. Throughout the day we practiced not being wasteful, not littering, and looking closer at God’s creation, along with using lots of recycled material for craft projects.

This ministry was a stretch from the norm but was a great outreach. We were blessed to be a blessing, and without a doubt we sowed some seeds for Jesus!
