Members and friends of Wesley UMC in Ludlow (Covington District) held a special Worship Service on Sept. 18, 2011 to dedicate a number of property improvements to the glory of God. Over 90 people attended the service to celebrate the blessing of having a parking lot adjacent to the church complete with a handicap accessible ramp and entrance to the sanctuary. Wesley UMC also dedicated interior improvements including the renovation of the narthex and installation of a media presentation system. The church has been able to complete these projects and retire all debt associated with the improvements through the generous support and memorial gifts given in the names of many of our dearly departed faithful members and friends, including Roy Sanford Smith, Joyce Brown, William M. Dailey, Johanna Silvers Drewry, James G. Ernest, Edward Earl Laws, and Pauline Brown Schwartz.
Rev. John Kalz is the pastor of Wesley United Methodist Church. He has faithfully served the congregation and community since his appointment here in June 2010. Covington District Superintendent Rev. Kevin Burney was the special guest preacher for the Worship and Dedication Service.
The Methodist congregation was founded in Ludlow in 1853, and the current building was erected in 1889. The congregation meets each Sunday morning at 10:00 a.m. for Sunday school, 11:00 a.m. for Morning Worship, and on each Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. for a community-wide “Wesley Wednesday” meal and program for all ages. The congregation invites you to join our church family as we continue to seek and serve God by making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
