Settle Memorial United Methodist Church (Owensboro District) is launching a “Good Samaritan Concert Series” to raise awareness and impact homelessness in Owensboro. This series of three concerts will benefit St. Benedict’s, Boulware Mission, the Help Office, and Settle Memorial’s Good Samaritan Fund. The Owensboro Symphony Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Music Director and Conductor Nicholas Palmer, will perform the first concert on Sunday, March 25, 3:00 p.m., at Settle Memorial (201 E. 4th Street, Owensboro). The concert will include works by Mozart, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Walton, Handel, and Vaughan Williams. It also features the church’s choirs and harpsichord soloist Diane Earle, Chair of the Department of Communication and Fine Arts at Kentucky Wesleyan College and Music Director at Settle. The program is free and open to the public. A free will offering will be taken to benefit the organizations. Nursery care will be provided.
Two additional concerts are being planned: “The Crossmen” gospel quartet will be performing July 29, and “Settle’s Got Talent” is September 30. For additional information, please contact Rev. Darren Brandon at 270-684-4226 or Diane Earle at 270-852-3617.
