During our pre-conference events Ms. Evelyn Richardson and Mr. Foster Ockerman presented to conference clergy and laity on celebrating and developing their own church history. The seminar offered step-by-step and practical applications to building a local church archive.

Run for the Nets 5K to benefit Imagine No Malaria
Our Run for the Nets 5K was a great success, seeing 140 participants of all ages and was held at Chaney’s Dairy Barn. The event was sponsored by the Kentucky Annual Conference Board of Pension and Health Benefits, Chaney’s Dairy Barn, Way-FM, Anthem BlueCross Blue Shield, Crestwood UMC, the Houchens Foundation, Broadway UMC, Centenary UMC, Prairie Farms, Smucker’s, Road ID, Imagine No Malaria, Run For The Nets 5K, and Trax Running.com.

Proceeds from the 5K will go towards Imagine No Malaria, a non-profit which focuses on a comprehensive approach to preventive care and medical treatment against malaria. The Kentucky Annual Conference in conjunction with the Global United Methodist Church has raised over 69 million for Imagine No Malaria. In 2007 every thirty seconds a child died from malaria. Today Imagine No Malaria has been able to reduce the death rate to one person every two minutes. We are excited to be a part of this impact but are ready to reduce death rate from malaria to zero!

Young Adult Gathering- Clergy and Laity
KYUMC is excited to bring young professionals together for fellowship, support, and coffee! Sunday evening young clergy and laity got together at the local Starbucks to share their passion, callings, and experiences. We’re excited to help our young ministers and laity minister and mentor each other in the context of the 21st century while being an integral part of the Kentucky Annual Conference. We’re excited to celebrate and invest in the ministry and impact of clergy and laity from many generations.

Day of Service Registration
On Sunday the Afternoon of Service check-in began, seeing 264 clergy members, 224 laity, and 48 family members sign up. The Afternoon of Service will put together Health Kits for the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), among other projects. The Health Kits will provide hygienic items that are critical to helping those affected by disaster.
