We are very excited to be back in Broadbent Arena at the Kentucky State Fair & Expo Center. This will have twice as much seating as in the past - and give us arena style seating. It is going to be awesome!
Please help us in making our main session worship time more sacred by asking and students to please turn off cell phones, and to refrain from unnecessary movement to concessions and other venues (restrooms) during our speaker. These are some of the main complaints that we receive each year.
Group leaders are responsible for all actions of their groups. We will have several young adults from our UM Colleges and Wesley Foundations to help us with crowd control. But their leadership can only go so far. Please remember why your church asked you to be the "adult" to bring your students for the weekend. Help make the weekend one to remember for all the right reasons. Remember that you represent much more than yourselves as you visit Louisville. Please do everything you can to convey the "light of God" evident in your life at all times.
Our Safe Sanctuaries Policy (www.kyumc.org/safesanctuaries) requires that all youth under 18 years of age MUST have adult supervision. No reservations will be issued without the name, address, and phone number of an adult contact person. Guidelines recommend one adult (22 or older) for every seven students, gender matched.
Please make your group aware that we do take pictures and videos of the weekend for marketing and publicity purposes, as well as archive of an awesome time. Any person's attendance at Winter Blitz gives the implied permissions to use their photo, video, or likeness for these purposes in print, projection and online.
Winter Blitz provides a first aid station. Licensed medical professionals will be available. Please have all medical/parental release forms readily availale in case of emergency. Here are some sample permission/release forms for you to use:

A very special place through the Winter Blitz weekend is the Prayer Room. This place is reserved for those seeking to share or receive special prayers. Stop by as a group or individual and share some of your prayers on the Winter Blitz "prayer wall." The prayer room is open for one hour before and half an hour after each of the main sessions.
Again this year we will have an activity room in the rear of the main auditrium to meet and greet some of our United Methodist College and Wesley Foundation students and leaders. Come by anytime one hour before or during free time to play corn-hole, guitar hero, or just hang out. While there you can find more information about all the wonderful opportunities we have at our 10 campus ministries throughout Kentucky.
We are pleased to have Cokesbury Bookstore with us for the weekend to provide resources for youth leaders/pastors. And other items of interest to young people such as books, jewelry, music and t-shirts.
On Saturday evening we will be receiving an offering for our Youth Service Fund to support Imagine No Malaria (www.imaginenomalaria.org), Honduras Outreach Inc (www.hoi.org), and our Kentucky Conference Camps (www.kycamps.org). Last year, we raised several thousands of dollars. Let's be prepared to give generously to help these great causes.
For all you early birds out there ...come over to the main stage early and join us for some awesome times of young people sharing their stories connected to God's story. These 20 minute morning worship times are just the thing to get your morning started right. Worship music is led each morning by Sarah May McGinnis.
Submit your group video advertising Winter Blitz, your youth group, or anything else that you think might be fun to see on the big screen. We will play a couple of videos before each session with winning videos getting a freebie.
DETAILS: Videos should be less than 3 minutes. MGEG or WMV is preferable format for mail-ins. You can also post on YouTube and send us the link. Submissions can be mailed to: Ministry with Young People, Video Contest, 7400 Floydsburg Road, Crestwood, KY 40014. All Submissions need to be made by January 15th to be considered.
