2021 Food Insecurities Grant
This year, the money we collect for the 2021 Annual Conference Mission Offering will be utilized to fund grants for Conference-connected ministries/agencies/churches that are starting or have food programs to alleviate food insecurity. These are programs like food banks, backpack ministries, after-school feeding programs, etc. Food-insecure means lacking reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable, nutritious food. In Kentucky, 17 percent of the population is classified as food-insecure.
This one-time $2,000 grant will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate the greatest need. Other funding sources, number of people potentially impacted by the ministry, and sustainability of the ministry will all be taken into account when determining need. The 2021 Annual Conference Mission Offering collection will be distributed until the funds run out.
After the grants are distributed, there will be a sixth-month follow-up report. In this follow-up report, we will ask you to share pictures and document the ways you see God working through your ministry to those who are experiencing food insecurity in your community. Your stories will be shared with the entire Kentucky Conference, to inspire others to help in their communities as well.
The online application is open from June 14 - September 3, 2021. The ANOW Team will review all applications and by November 1, 2021, all qualifying applicants will receive word and funds.
