AC 2019 Mission Offering

Kentucky Annual Conference

June 10 - 12, 2019

Northern Kentucky Convention Center
One West RiverCenter Blvd.
Covington, KY 41011

Each year, all churches in the Kentucky Conference are invited to participate in a mission offering at Annual Conference. The 2019 Annual Conference Mission Offering will support new missional communities that have unique ministries in our Conference.  These communities are Grace Kids: A Church for Children, in Louisville; Encounter Missions, in Paintsville; and a Fund for emerging refugee communities in numerous areas of our state. All proceeds will go directly toward the development of ministries to transform the church, communities and the world!

  • Grace Kids: A Church for Children is, as the name suggests, a church for children in one of Louisville’s sorest neighborhoods. The church takes a whole-child approach to spiritual instruction and discipleship. It is their goal to create authentic disciples who are leaders in all facets of their lives – whether in the church, the school, or the community. They are also big on fun – they allow our children the opportunity and space to be kids!

  • Encounter Missions began as an addiction recovery ministry in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. Since beginning they have grown into a church averaging 40-some every Sunday morning. They are continually drawing new families through Celebrate Recovery and are in the planning stages to open a community kitchen. They are truly making a difference in a troubled area of Appalachia!

  • Refugee Fund will support communities that are emerging in cities like Lexington, Bowling Green, Louisville and other towns across the state. These “new Americans” in our communities are often escaping horrendous conditions and violence from their previous homes. Several churches in our Annual Conference have begun vital ministry to some of these communities around the Annual Conference. As the people called Methodist in Kentucky, we want to support and encourage these and more such ministries with some of the most vulnerable among us.

Sunday, May 19, is the designated date for collection of this year’s offering. If that date is not convenient for your church, please collect the offering at a more conducive time. Each congregation is asked to send its offering to Annual Conference with the church’s lay member. Checks should be made payable to the Kentucky Conference Treasurer.

With your mission offering, you are helping missional faith communities make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world across Kentucky. You are inviting others to be part of God’s story and to understand God’s love for them. In short, you are making a difference!

Bishop Fairley and the extended cabinet challenge all Kentucky United Methodists to give generously to this year’s Annual Conference Mission Offering. To support this challenge, Bishop Fairley and the members of the extended cabinet have agreed to contribute personally to the Mission Offering.  As a group, they have committed to give at least $20,000.
