COMMUNITY OUTREACH DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

Ministry Area: Community Outreach Reports To: Executive Director Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for ministering to the community through: Christian Education, Community Aid, Support Groups, Maternal Infant Health Outreach Worker program, Senior Citizen Care, Youth Ministries, Recreation

The Community Outreach Director shall:
• Develop and grow relationships with community members and parents
  o Establish and maintain effective 2-way communication systems with community
  o Establish and maintain current needs assessment at family/individual level
  o Grow community ownership and participation in initiating, leading, executing and assessing programming

• Define and renew Community Outreach programs
  o Determine proper evaluation frequency and methodology
  o Execute assessments that support grant activity and program renewal

• Establish success metrics and maintain system of assessment
  o Define program objectives
  o Determine what constitutes success in each area
  o Establish measurement tools to assess and track performance  

• Determine and secure resources for programming
  o Establish staff requirements, recruit, and onboard new staff members
  o Lead Community Outreach budget development and administration
  o Develop and grow relationships with donors, volunteers and other supporters

• Develop, direct and assess staff members
  o Establish clear and measurable staff member objectives
  o Conduct regular review and coaching sessions
  o Identify development opportunities and training alternatives

• Co-lead the Settlement as a member of the Lead Team
  o Serve the Settlement as a committed, fully participating Lead Team member
  o Live within the Team values and principles
  o Co-own total organization results delivery

• Carry out all other duties as assigned by the Executive Director

Qualifications: Commitment to God in Christ and a respect for and understanding of the ministries of the United Methodist Church; Spiritual maturity and comfort with the language and essentials of the Christian faith; Willingness to work with the Settlement’s mission and vision and to honor United Methodist theology, social principles and practice; Strong leader who is trustworthy and willing to serve as a mentor; Strategic thinker with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment and a strong operational focus.  Well-organized, self-directed individual with a heart for outreach missions and the community; Intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels; Ability to produce clearly written documentation for technical and non-technical audiences; Ability to speak persuasively and confidently to large and diverse audiences; Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office

Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree in public relations or related field; four or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Maintain a positive and respectful attitude.  Communicate regularly with supervisor about department issues. Demonstrate flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload. Consistently meet deadlines negotiated and set with supervisor. Meet department productivity standards. Exemplify the highest standard of Christian faith and morality
