Part-time Youth Minister
General Job Summary: Lead the Student Ministries Team to support the vision, goals, and mission of the church. Reports to: Senior Pastor (Direct) and SPR Chair (Indirect) Classification: Full or Part Time: Part-time Hourly or Salary: Salary Qualifications: Experience working with children/youth Preferred- Major in Christian Ministry or related field General Expectations: In addition to specific job duties, the position holder is expected: 1. To conduct all functions in the ministry with a respectful, open, and Christian attitude. 2. To realize as a representative of LUMC and God’s church that behavior outside as well as inside the Church Building reflects on the church, its purpose and reputation, so should be conducted as so. 3. To interact and relate to persons inside the church and outside the church to strengthen and encourage all. Staff are strongly encouraged to participate in some other areas within the church (small groups/Sunday School, etc.) Regular Responsibilities: 1. Develop and implement an evangelism and discipleship strategy for youth in cooperation with the Student Ministries Leadership Team. 2. Recruit, train, and disciple adult leaders to carry out the mission of the ministry. 3. Develop youth leaders to serve on the Student Leadership Team and Church Council. 4. Comply with the LUMC Safe Sanctuaries Policy at all times. 5. Plan and direct weekly Student Ministries gatherings, Bible Studies, annual retreats, and Conference youth ministry offerings (i.e. Winter Blitz). 6. Teach a Sunday School class. 7. Promote student participation in Kentucky Conference Camp & Retreat Ministries. 8. Maintain open communications with parents of students. 9. Provide effective assistance to parents in empowering discipleship in the home. 10. Coordinate Confirmation Classes with the Director of Children’s Ministries and Senior Pastor. 11. Provide a budget estimate for the Student Ministry to the Finance Committee annually. 12. Participate in weekly staff meetings and periodic staff gatherings. 13. Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Pastor. Standard Work hours: 15-20 Hours/week - Wednesday evening, Sunday AM & PM, Personal Prep, Staff Meetings Non-Standard Work Hours: Special projects such as seasonal or other that reflect general Responsibilities for LUMC ministries.
