The Eastern Kentucky UM Health Education and Welfare Fund

Purpose

The Kentucky Annual Conference established The Eastern Kentucky Health, Education and Welfare Fund in 2005. The primary focus of the endowment is to provide funding for healthcare issues in Eastern Kentucky. The Kentucky Conference will disburse earnings from the fund in the following manner for 2022:

  • $66,055 in 2022 to assist local churches in the healthcare payments of clergy that participate in the conference healthcare plan. The clergyperson's base salary cannot be greater than $36,200 in 2019 for the church to receive consideration for funding.
  • $99,080 is available to assist ministerial education for clergyperson's in Eastern Kentucky. Funding will be available in 2022. The Conference Board of Ordained Ministry provides a process for application for these funds.
  • $99,080 will be available to provide for ministries in Eastern Kentucky. Funding will be available in 2018. Applications are welcome from United Methodist and non-United Methodist organizations. However, a non-United Methodist organization will need to provide a letter of support from a United Methodist Church with its application. The Kentucky Conference considers Eastern Kentucky to be those counties that fall entirely south of I-64 and east of I-75.
