Attendance at either a Winter or Summer Candidacy Retreat is required for all those pursuing certified candidacy in the Kentucky Annual Conference, including those who are considering becoming local pastors, elders or deacons. The retreats are scheduled in January and August of each year and focus on the discernment of a call to ministry, as well as a discussion of options available for such a vocation.
Registration forms are only available from the candidate's district superintendent. Please contact your district office to request a form.
The cost for attending the retreat is $30, which covers room and board.
Candidates are also encouraged to complete a background check ($70) and the Tier I Psychological assessments ($400). Note: Both of these items are required for certification and completion of these items at the retreat will expedite the process of moving toward that goal. Please discuss these options with your district superintendent before submitting the registration form to him/her.
Payment for the retreat, the background check and the psychological assessments is due at the time the registration is submitted and should be paid through the district office. Do not submit your check directly to the conference office. Your district superintendent and/or the district administrative assistant will be able to help calculate how much of this expense is your responsibility.
Registration and payment are due no later than August 15, 2016.
