Members of the Kentucky Annual Conference have a wonderful opportunity to assist the people of Lumberton, North Carolina who are recovering from the devastation of Hurricane Matthew.
Bishop Leonard Fairley is asking for as many as can go to accompany him to Lumberton from Saturday, March 25 - Friday, March 31, 2017. The purpose of this trip is to help in the rebuilding process of damaged homes in Lumberton, NC.
We will leave from various sites throughout the Kentucky Conference on Saturday, March 25th. Our destination will be the Chestnut Street United Methodist Church in Lumberton, NC. This is where we will be housed for the week. Depending on the number of people desiring to go, and the geographical locations of the participants, departure sites, and the exact times of these departures, will be announced at a later date.
We will be staying at Chestnut Street UMC for the duration of our trip.
On Sunday, March 26th, we will worship with the Chestnut Street United Methodist Church. We will then use the afternoon to make plans for our work which will begin on Monday morning.
All are invited and encouraged to go. No specific skills are necessary, just a desire to be part of this team. However, people with experience in areas such as hanging sheetrock, plumbing, electrical, etc. are especially needed. But again, no matter one's level of experience, all are welcome.
One of the vital areas will be meal preparation. If physical limitations would cause you to not be able to work in a field experience, individuals will be needed to prepare food on a daily basis for all who will be volunteering. There will be other, non-physical, work available as well.
Dates: March 25 - March 31, 2017
Cost: $350 per person, includes lodging, meals, transportation, supplies
Deposit: $100 due
Registration & Deposit Deadline: February 24, 2017
Ages: Open to adults 18+, plus students aged 14-17 with adult chaperone accompanying
Team Leader: Rev. Randy Maynard - pastorrandy@christchurchlex.com
