Attendance at either a Winter or Summer Candidacy Retreat is required for all those pursuing certified candidacy in the Kentucky Annual Conference, including those who are considering becoming local pastors, elders or deacons. The retreats are scheduled in January and August of each year and focus on the discernment of a call to ministry, as well as a discussion of options available for such a vocation.
-
Registration forms are only available from the candidate's district superintendent. Please contact your district office to request a form.
-
The cost for attending the retreat is $30, which covers room and board.
-
Candidates will complete a background check ($70) and the Tier I Psychological assessments ($400) while at the retreat. Note: Both of these items are required for certification and completion of these items at the retreat will expedite the process of moving toward that goal.
-
Payment for the retreat, the background check and the psychological assessments is due at the time the registration is submitted and should be paid through the district office. Do not submit your check directly to the conference office. Your district superintendent and/or the district administrative assistant will be able to help calculate how much of this expense is your responsibility.
-
Registration and payment are due no later than August 15, 2017.
-
The event begins at 6:00pm on Friday, August 25 and ends at 4:00pm on Saturday, August 26.
-
Retreat check-in at Aldersgate is from 6:00-6:30pm at the Aldersgate chapel (125 Aldersgate Camp Rd, Ravenna, KY 40472; (606) 723-5078).
-
Sessions begin at 7:00pm in the chapel. Please eat dinner before arriving at the camp. There will be light snacks and beverages available during the retreat.
- Driving directions are available on the camp's website: http://aldersgatecamp.org/directions/. DO NOT USE YOUR GPS - IT WILL LEAD YOU ASTRAY!
