It’s time once again to start planning for the Kentucky Conference Youth Mission Trip! Conference youth will travel back to Honduras to continue on with the work that was started over the past three summers. High school students who have completed at least their freshman year are invited to join us as we share the love of Christ with the people of Honduras. For the past few years we have had a great time being introduced to the Honduran people of the Algalta Valley in the region of Olancho. Honduras Outreach Inc, besides being a great host, has been doing significant work here since 1987. We have come to appreciate their “heart for God and hand to man” as they work alongside more than 200 villages in this area to improve the qualities of life, educating in heart, soul, mind, and strength.

Mrs Jennifer Davis, our Bishop’s wife, is the one that first introduced us to this group in 2010. She had been doing work with them from her time in the North Georgia Conference. This will be the final trip she makes with us to Honduras!

Our goal is to have two young people aged 16-22 from each of the 12 districts in the KY Conference. Talk to your pastor and district superientendent to see what funds they might help to provide. Many churches and districts are willing to go in for 1/3 cost of the trip, leaving only 2/3 to raise through friends and families support letters. Most of the people who have made this trip haven’t had any problem getting funding.

We will gather in Louisville on June 26, 2015, and leave for Tegucigalpa, Honduras, on June 27. During our time in Honduras, we will work again with the Pech Indians in a neighborhood of the village of Carbon in central Honduras. The Pech are an indigenous people for whom Spanish is a second language. While in Honduras, our youth will have the opportunity to help with Vacation Bible School with the Pech children. They will also have opportunities to help with the infrastructure of the village as they assist with the building of latrines and chimneys and the pouring of concrete floors.

This is an opportunity for our youth to be the hands and feet of Christ as they carry the message of Christ deep into the heart of Honduras. The group will return to Louisville on July 4th.

The total cost for the trip (airfare, transportation, meals, and housing) is $2100 per person. The deadline to register, with a $500 deposit, is March 27th.  Register online now!
