SYMPOSIUM TO FOCUS ON HUMAN TRAFFICKING

The crime of human trafficking is not something that is occurring on foreign shores to nameless individuals. It is happening here, now, to those you may know, to those you may love.

The United Methodist Men and United Methodist Women of the Frankfort District will be sponsoring a symposium at First United Methodist Church, Frankfort, focusing on human trafficking and what can be done to help its many, many victims.

“Understanding Human Trafficking: From Awareness to Action” will take place Saturday, August 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Frankfort church, located at 211 East Washington Street.

A lunch will be served ($16 per person) and child care provided upon request.

Among the scheduled speakers are:

* Dr. Regan Lookadoo, Georgetown College

* Marissa Castellanos, Catholic Charities, Louisville;
                  Kentucky Rescue and Restore Coalition

* Brittney Thomas, HOPE
