Want to be a kid again and go to camp? Here’s your opportunity. For over a decade in May, adults have been attending Adult Camp at Loucon. It is a time of fun, fellowship and relaxation. Our theme this year is “Be a Hero.” Scheduled to lead us in the study of the scriptures are the following individuals:
David Sparks-- Associate Director of Connectional Ministries Kentucky Annual Conference—Ministry to Young People,
Rev. Gary Graves—Pastor, Rockfield UMC,
Virginia Watkins—Minister to Adults, St Paul UMC,
Rev. Brian Ebel—Associate Pastor St Paul UMC,
Rev .Larry Stoess—Director Portland Promise Center, and
Dr. Jay Smith—Madisonville District Superintendent.
Rev. Becki Curry, Assistant to the Bishop, will lead us in Communion on Thursday morning before we depart.
In addition to the speakers, we will have devotionals, bible study and worship. Lodging will be in Turner or Munday Lodge, both with motel-like accommodations.
All of the usual camp activities will be available, if you choose to participate—basket weaving, folk dancing, hiking, canoes, paddle boats, zip line, archery, hayride, campfire and more. If you aren’t interested in those activities, there are plenty of rocking chairs to use (instructions for use will be provided upon request from the Loucon Staff !!!!!!!!) to sit, talk, and take in all of God’s beautiful spring sights.
We all need rest and renewal. It is only in Jesus that we will truly find what we need and what we are looking for. The Adult Camp is the recipe for that. The Dean of this year's Adult Camp is Ken Curry. Literature about the camp is available from your District Superintendent.
Come recharge your spiritual batteries and have fun doing it!! The camp starts at 4PM CDT on Monday afternoon May 17th and ends at 10AM CDT on Thursday May 20th.
