Fall 2008 Advanced Lay Speaking Training

08/16/08 & 10/18/08 9:00 A.M.-3:00 P.M. each day

Host Church: Scottsville First UMC in Allen County

Cost: $25.00 Covers training materials and book/workbook.

Lunches provided by Scottsville First for training on both days.

(Pre-Registration is required for ordering books. You must be recommended by your local church to attend this training and have your pastor’s signature on this form.)

Course Overview:

Part One (August 16^th): Participants will receive these materials at the training: Devotional Life in the Wesleyan Tradition and Lay Speakers Grow Spiritually Through Daily Discipline. Materials will not be mailed out before the training. The focus of August 16^th will be to discuss the materials and how we will use them to help us develop a spiritually disciplined life. Participants will choose a discipline area(s) they want to work on and focus on that area: August 17^th –October 17^th.

Part Two (October 18^th) We will gather to discuss progress and insights God has revealed to us during this time. No one will be asked to share personal information. All sharing will be confidential and voluntary. The goal is to take this training back to your church and lead others and/or present to church to consider for a bible study. This training will provide 3 more years of certification to be a Certified Lay Speaker.
