The following workshops are planned for presentation at the Kentucky Conference celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, Saturday, January 13, 2007 at Middletown UMC in the Louisville district.
Hispanic Ministries – orientation and training for engaging in ministries with and to Hispanic persons
Nathaniel Mission – orientation regarding the work and training for responding to the needs of Nathaniel Mission; will also touch on Shalom Community Ministries.
Native American Ministries – orientation to the ministry and opportunities for participation
Restorative Justice Ministries –
3 opportunities: Bags of Love, Adopt-an-Inmate, and Local Jail Ministry
Volunteers in Mission – an overview of the work of the VIM program in the Kentucky Conference
Church and Society – overview of the Social Principles of The United Methodist Church and ideas for implementing them in the local church
Disaster Response – information, updates, and ideas for participating in ministries that meet disaster emergencies
Ethnic Local Church Concerns – information and ideas for working with this ministry for local congregations
Commission on the Status and Role of Women - COSROW will present information and a presentation for young people interested in ministry. Several young candidates for ministry will join together to speak of their call, the process and the church. We will also provide information about developing quality sexual abuse policies in congregatons.
Along with these, there will also be a workshop on children and youth presented by the Children and Poverty team.
