The Families of Addiction Recovery Ministries (FARM) announces that there will be a workshop entitled “Strengthening Families” on Friday and Saturday, October 27-28, 2017, in the Wesley Room at the Conference Center, 7400 Floydsburg Road located in Crestwood, Kentucky 40014.
The Strengthening Families Program (SFP) is a 14-session, evidence-based parenting skills, children's social skills, and family life skills training program specifically designed for high-risk families, particularly those with substance use disorder issues. Parents and children participate in SFP, both separately and together. Group Leader Manuals contain a complete lesson for every session. Parents' and children's Handouts are also provided for every session. The program has Spanish subtitles as an option in the DVD. This two-day training session is designed to teach an individual how to use the program, and qualify them to teach others how to use the program.
There is no charge for the workshop itself and both breakfast (starting at 8:30am each day) and lunch are provided, but you will be on your own for dinner and you will have to pay for your own overnight accommodations. There are two very close options available:
- First, is the motel at the Kavanaugh Camp located within walking distance to the Conference Center where the workshop takes place. You must make your own reservations at Kavanaugh Camp by calling Erin Schmitt at 502-241-9091 or email email@example.com. The cost for one night is $65 plus 7% tax. Since this is a camping site you must either bring your own sheets and towels, or you may rent them for $12.
- The second is the Hampton Inn located about a 20-minute ride from the Conference Center. The Conference has made arrangements to have people stay at the Hampton Inn at the corporate rate which is approximately $99 plus taxes per night. Breakfast is included in the price. To make reservations at the Hampton Inn call 502-327-8880 and say you are with the UMC to get this special rate.
