Advent Devotional December 3

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. - Heb. 6:19
Has there ever been a time when your life changed in a matter of minutes? It did for me when my husband unexpectedly suffered a brain bleed that caused a massive stroke. My strong, energetic husband’s life, and mine too, changed drastically. I was in a place where I needed to be strong and courageous, but instead I felt weak and scared. We both were broken.
Brokenness comes in many ways ... broken hearts, broken families, broken dreams. Are you in a place where you feel broken? If so, you’re not alone. God understands and can take the broken pieces of your life and make something new. No matter how difficult a situation is or how weak and scared you feel, you can count on Him. You can trust Him. He is able to hold you, carry you, and lead you through the tough times. He is God.
Since my husband’s stroke we now have what we call a new normal. Our life has changed in many ways, yet we can see that God is taking our brokenness and making something new and good. There’s a lot we don’t understand, but what’s clear is that God’s love is forevermore. He’s with you all the way. As we prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Jesus, we’re reminded that our hope is in Him. He is the Anchor that is steady and strong. And His plan for you is good and full of hope.
Prayer: Jesus, thank You for coming to live with us and die for us.
I can trust that in You, my best days are ahead.
I praise You for being my hope and my firm and secure Anchor.
