Advent Devotional December 10

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” - Jeremiah 1:5
As I held my grandchild for the first time, I was completely in love and felt an intense bond.
I didn’t realize until the moment I saw my own child hold her newborn son and look into his eyes just how much fuller my heart could become. Then I looked at my son-in-law and saw the love, joy and tears that filled him as he watched his wife and son. In that moment I felt the intense love that God must have for each of His children.
“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” - Jeremiah 1:5
I think about the night our Savior, Jesus Christ, was born. As Mary held her newborn son and looked into his eyes, her heart must have been instantly filled with overwhelming love for her child. Joseph would have knelt in awe as he witnessed the miracle of birth, his heart welling with feelings of love, honor, and anticipation of what God had in store for this child.
During Advent, prepare your heart to be overwhelmed with the love Christ has for you.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please help us to feel in our hearts the true meaning of that Holy Night. Let it change our hearts and our lives forever. Fill our hearts daily with love for others as we remember the most precious gift given to us, the gift of your son, Jesus. Amen.
