SEJ Conference Postponed Until 2021

April 07, 2020

Grace and peace to each of you in this most unusual of Holy Weeks for all of us.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the postponement of General Conference until 2021, the decision has been made to also postpone all 2020 U.S. Jurisdictional Conferences scheduled for July. According to our Book of Discipline, all Jurisdictional Conferences occur simultaneously on a date set by the Council of Bishops. As soon as the dates for the rescheduled General Conference are released, the Council of Bishops will set a new date for the opening of the Jurisdictional Conferences.

“We had hoped very much to know these dates before now so that all of us can move forward to shift our plans,” said Anne Travis, Conference Secretary for the Southeastern Jurisdiction. “Please watch for a press release with the new dates for General Conference, which we hope will be forthcoming very soon.

"Now is a very important time for all of us to stay well, stay healthy, and stay in vital ministry with those in our local churches, our Conferences, and our world. May God be with us all as we move toward the day we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Grace and peace,

Bishop Fairley
