2021 Cabinet Appointments

As the Bishop of the Kentucky Annual Conference, one of my greatest responsibilities is overseeing the pastoral needs of congregations through our United Methodist system of itinerancy.  A large part of attending to the needs of congregations begins with attending to the needs of our pastors and local churches and that role falls to the superintendents as an extension of the Bishop.

Therefore I am pleased to announce the following Cabinet appointments:

Revs. Susan Jinnett-Sack and Scott Stith will retire after our 2021 Annual Conference session. Combined Scott and Susan served six years on my appointive cabinet of the KY conference.

I, along with the clergy and laity of the Northern Kentucky and Pennyrile Districts, will miss their spirit-filled leadership. As June approaches let's remember to be in prayer for Susan and Scott as they embark on this new chapter.

In addition to the above retirements, I am pleased to announce the appointment of three District Superintendents:

Rev. Dr. Wade Arp will follow Scott Stith as the District Superintendent in the Pennyrile District.

Wade is currently serving in his seventh year as senior pastor of Nicholasville UMC.His wife, Teri, is the Acquisitions Specialist for B.L. Fisher Library at Asbury Theological Seminary.

Wade and Teri have a daughter, Alexis, 14, who will be a freshman in high school next year; and a son, Aidan, 12, who will be in eighth grade next year.

Rev. Shannon Boaz will serve as the District Superintendent in the Northern Kentucky District.

Shannon is a native of the greater Louisville area, yet has spent much of her ministry on the edges of Kentucky.  She has lived on the West Virginia border in Louisa, across from Indiana in Carrollton, and following time at Mt. Tabor in her hometown of Crestwood, has spent the last 4 years near Tennessee in Scottsville.  Along the way, she has been joined by her husband of 17 years, David, and their children Natalie (14 ) and Thomas (nearly 12).

Shannon is a graduate of Duke University (1994) with a BA in Psychology and earned her MDiv at Candler School of Theology in 2000.  She also spent a year as a pastor in the British Methodist Church where she served 5 churches in the Plymouth and Exeter District.

Rev. Dr. Tina Patterson will be the District Superintendent for the Bluegrass District. For the 2020/2021 conference year, the Bluegrass District did not have a District Superintendent, and was attended to by a team of superintendents.

Tina is currently serving at Mosaic UMC, where she has served for the last four years. She has participated in the life of the Kentucky Annual Conference in numerous ways, including the Board of Ordained Ministry, New Church Development, chair of the Heartland District Building and Locations Committee, SBC21 Design Team, Religion and Race, Kentucky Conference Multicultural Operations Team, and Primary Task. Tina has one adult daughter and two grandchildren.

All appointments are effective July 1, 2021.
