Boys in Emergency Shelter Will Have Extra Special Christmas
Employees from Clark Material Handling Company delivered over $2,500 in Christmas gifts to the Kentucky United Methodist Children's Home in Versailles, Ky. The employees have "adopted" the Boy's Emergency Shelter, which has ten beds. Christmas presents arrived with each child’s name written on oversized gift bags.
The Home serves teenagers with histories of abuse, abandonment, neglect and family trauma.
“It is such a blessing to these kids, especially during the holidays when most of the kids can not go home to be with their family. We may have a child arrive in the Emergency Shelter the day before Christmas. I know I can count on Clark for that, too," said David Bowles, Director of Corporate and Community Support.
Clark has provided special items for our boys all year long by doing unique employee fundraisers, such as “Wear Your Jeans To Work” day for five dollars. Besides Christmas presents, they also brought Easter baskets and school supplies, clothing, and cash whenever a need would arise.
Last year Clark employee’s purchased a television, entertainment center and Xbox video games for the recreation room. "It is rare to have such dedication from a company's employees. Clark's employees are always willing to volunteer time, send money or go shopping when any need pops up.
