Madisonville District Lay Speaking Training Event

March 20, 2007

The Madisonville District Lay Speaking Team conducted its 2007 Training on March 3rd and 11th at the Ogden Memorial United Methodist Church in Princeton, Kentucky.  The largest number of participants to ever attend the Basic Course studied, planned, and presented messages as part of the event.  Advanced Course participants expanded their abilities to develop messages from their hearts and deliver them with God’s inspiration and guidance.  Dorothy Southall, District Lay Speaking Coordinator, greeted the group assembled for the Closing Service. Madisonville District Superintendent Dr. Jay Smith preached and challenged the Lay Speakers and those persons who came to support them to continue to learn. Using the Italian phrase of Michelango, Ancora Imparo, or I am still learning. Twenty-six Lay Speakers were commissioned for service in United Methodist Churches. The service closed with the celebration of Holy Communion.
