Kavanaugh's New Adventure
Kavanaugh Life Enrichment Center's first annual travel retreat made footprints in the sand January 19-26, 2008 when 29 "retreaters" left Kavanaugh and headed to Puerto Rico, where they boarded a ship for a seven day adventure. The travel retreat combined seven days of renewal, Christian fellowship, and an escape from the winter cold. A huge plus for Kavanaugh was the travel retreat also served as a fundraiser for the camp. Through the benefits offered by JFF Tours, Kavanaugh received a donation for hosting the winter travel retreat, as well as making many new friends. Each traveler with the group helped to make a significant contribution to the life and ministry of Kavanaugh Life Enrichment Center. Kavanaugh director Beverly Maguffee said she was overwhelmed by the generous spirit and fellowship of the retreat travelers. "We had to think outside the box of camping and retreat ministry, and as is always the case with new programming we were anxious about the implementation of a new thing, but our travel 'retreaters' were just the best, and we were so blessed by them."
The travel group visited San Juan, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Kitts, Grenada, Isla Margarita, and Aruba. Travelers were free to explore on their own or join in with the group for sightseeing and touring. In the evenings the group would join together for dinner and share stories from their day's adventures. Kavanaugh is currently in the planning stage for travel retreat #2 coming in 2009. Watch for details coming your way in the next couple of months. If you have any questions, please call the Kavanaugh office at 502-241-9091.

The group was reminded that God does indeed keep promises. The first outing came with a rainbow blessing.
