New District Superintendent Appointments

Rev. C. Eugene (Gene) Pillow will be District Superintendent for the Ashland District.  Rev. Pillow was born in Evansville, Ind., and grew up in Sebree, Ky. He and his wife, Judy, have two daughters: Amy, married to Mike Wortham; they have two daughters, Kaitlyn and Sarah, and live in Madisonville, Ky.; and Melissa, married to Curtis Grace; they have two sons, Ethan and Corey, and live in Sebree, Ky. Rev. Pillow states that his goals for the Ashland District are “to follow in the steps of my predecessors, who were all good mentors for me and to foster the spirit of connectionalism, which binds us together in a common ministry of making disciples of Jesus Christ in our communities.”

Todd B. Love, the new Columbia District Superintendent, was born in Marion, Ky. He attended Murray State University and Kentucky Wesleyan College, graduating from KWC with a B.A. in philosophy and religion. He did his seminary work at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville. He and his wife of 35 years, Marilynn, have three sons; Jordan, Adam, and Alex. Jordan and Alex both live in Owensboro, and Adam lives in Jasper, Ala. They have one grandchild; her name is Ryan, who is four years old. In addition to pastoral appointments in the former Louisville and now Kentucky Conference, Rev. Love has previously served two extension ministry appointments: on staff at Lindsey Wilson College and as District Superintendent of the Madisonville District.

The Elizabethtown District’s new D.S. will be Michael L. Gibbons. Dr. Gibbons most recently served as the Louisville District Superintendent. He was born in Vandalia, Illinois but grew up in Ashland, Ky., where he graduated from Paul Blazer High School.  Dr. Gibbons received his bachelors’ degree from Kentucky Wesleyan before receiving advanced degrees from Asbury Seminary and Lexington Theological Seminary. He is married to Margaret Stanfield Gibbons. He and Margaret are the parents of two daughters, Shannon Caswell and Holly West, and the grandparents of four.

Rebecca S. Curry will be the District Superintendent for the Louisville District. Since 2005, Rev. Curry has been the Assistant to the Bishop, a role she will continue in addition to her responsibilities as D.S. Prior to that she was district superintendent of the Owensboro District and served Guthrie, Henderson First (Associate), and Belleview churches. She served 13 years as executive director of St. Anthony’s Hospice. Rev. Curry and her husband, Ken, have two sons: Michael, who is married to Lynsey and lives in Colorado, and David, who lives in Tennessee with his wife, Amanda.
