Henderson Settlement Sends Thanks to the Kentucky Conference

September 01, 2010

To the Kentucky Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church,

It is with a great deal of gratitude that we send this thank you to the churches of Kentucky Conference for the generous outpouring of support for the ministries at Henderson Settlement.
We plan to use these funds in our Youth Ministries Program. This is an important program to the youth of the Frakes, KY community and surrounding areas. For decades Henderson Settlement has offered a place for these children to learn and grow.  With your help we plan to offer programming to meet the Spiritual, Physical, and Emotional needs of these children.
As you know, the youth are the future of our church and nation. Your generous gift makes it possible for us to continue this ministry. Our current efforts include an after school program and a summer recreation program. Through these programs we mentor the children by facilitating education, recreation, and Bible school activities. We also provide a nutritious breakfast and lunch during summer recreation. Our goal is to open doors of opportunity to these children as well as to share Christ in a safe and nurturing environment.
To quote our new Youth Ministries Coordinator, Magdalyn Mayes: “In my time spent here, I have grown to develop a vision for the Youth Ministries Program. I am hoping to see a well-structured program that consists of enlightening lessons and activities that teach our youth values and morals as well as substantial life skills. I anticipate that more students will gain an interest in the program and it will grow considerably.”
Thank you so much for partnering in ministry with us. It is so important for us to create a program that will provide socialization, education, and wholesome activities. Our children and youth of today will be our leaders of tomorrow.
God Bless,

Vicki Stephenson
