Sisterhood Gathering

September 22, 2010

On Saturday, July 17, Talbert Chapel United Methodist Church (Elizabethtown District) hosted the first annual Sisterhood Gathering, Sisters Dealing With Life’s Issues. Seventy-eight women pre-registered for this event, and seven women registered on site. This first gathering of multi-cultural women represented 23 different churches, traveled from 15 different cities in 3 different states. Conference speakers were Pastor Janet Carden (Faith Issues) of Harned, Pastor Johnetta Mucker (Fun/Food Issues) of Irvington, and Reverend Mary Buford (Family Issues) of Louisville. Those in attendance evaluated the overall conference as excellent and desire to have more women in attendance next year with a long-range goal of adding female youth and children to this annual gathering. Each participant was asked to bring a canned good that was donated to the feeding program of The Good Samaritan community ministry. While Talbert Chapel’s pastor, Pearl Gray, hosted this year’s event, the planning team included members from other area churches.
