KYUMH Annual Day 2010

September 29, 2010

Hundreds of supporters attended Annual Day Auction and BBQ Lunch at the Versailles Campus of The Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children and Youth. The event was held on Saturday, September 11, 2010.

Special guests included former residents of the Homes as well as Bishop Lindsey Davis, Lexington District Superintendent Rev. Mark Girard, Frankfort District Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Cummings, Versailles United Methodist pastor Rev. Michael Lehman, and many others.

The Annual Day Inspirational Program was held in the Versailles United Methodist Church's pavilion on the property adjacent to KYUMH's Versailles Campus. Special music was performed by Mr. Jimmy Dooley, a Christian singer, songwriter and producer. His song "Be The Change" made the Top 25 songs of 2009 on the Christian Radio Weekly chart for Inspirational and Adult Contemporary music.

The Friends of The Children is the auxiliary support group that sponsors the Annual Day events. They were happy to report that with the Live and Silent Auctions, Bake Sale, and donations, the grand total came to approximately $12,000.
The mission of the Friends of the Children is to show the children that adults believe in them and want to encourage them by providing the “extras” that make their stay at The Kentucky United Methodist Homes for Children & Youth more pleasant and rewarding. Their support helps to provide special wants for the children, such as birthday celebrations, sports equipment, entertainment, and Bible study books. They wish to thank all the volunteers and staff who helped make the day a success!
