Special Sunday Gifts Help Students

October 20, 2010

The mission and vision of GBHEM is, “to lead and serve the United Methodist Church in the recruitment, preparation, nurture, education and support of Christian leaders—lay and clergy—for the work of making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world” and “a new generation of Christian leaders who commit boldly to Jesus Christ and are characterized by intellectual excellence, moral integrity, spiritual courage, and holiness of heart and life.”

As our churches observe World Communion Sunday and United Methodist Student Day, Kentucky Conference churches become partners in making this happen. Materials to assist these special Sundays and provide scholarships are available at www.gbhem.org.  For the 2009-2010 school year, Kentucky Conference students in colleges and seminaries received $37,300.00 of assistance. Online applications for loans in the new school year will begin to be received on December 1, 2010. Scholarship applications will be available online starting January 4, 2011. You can find more info about both of these opportunities at www.gbhem.org.

You can learn more about Student Day and get resources for the day at www.UMCGiving.org/umsd.

Let us all be supportive of our future leadership and the work of our General Board of Higher Education & Ministry.
