Munfordville FUMC in New Sanctuary
January 16, 2011 was a red-letter day at Munfordville First United Methodist Church (Bowling Green District) as we worshipped and praised the Lord in our newly built sanctuary for the first time. You may remember that “The Miracles of Munfordville” were presented at the Kentucky Annual Conference showing the progress made subsequent to the fire on December 22, 2003. The few church members decided that the church needed to be rebuilt and at a different location. As a result, land was bought where we never dreamed we would be able to build, the Christian Life Center was built, and the membership grew from about 30 to 100+ members. Now we celebrate the completion of the second phase of the building project entering the sanctuary.
The congregation processed into the new facility to the choir’s singing. The instrumental prelude featured a procession of the elements of worship, with the cross, worship candles, and offering plates brought in by members of the church with the acolytes following the others. The bells played the offertory. The entire service was Spirit-filled, and the sermon was based on Christ-led service by the people as the church. The installation of officers of the church and recognition of the building committee were also part of the service.
We extend our thanks to our brothers and sisters throughout the district and conference who have held us in your prayers. May we all pray for one another in our connected effort to serve Jesus our Savior.
