Change the World Weekend: Berea

May 31, 2011

Over 1,600 churches participated around the world in community outreach projects May 14-15. Berea UMC (Lexington District) coordinated two days of community outreach projects.

Fifty-two volunteers complete projects at 10 different locations.  Sixteen of our participants were under 18 years old. Our great support team provided meals and assisted with registration.

Projects included rebuilding a fence, clearing a fence row, fixing and cleaning gutters, cutting and stacking firewood, stripping old paint, sanding and painting, trimming hedges, repairing a chain link fence, working on flowerbeds, and assisting with construction at the newest Madison County Habitat for Humanity house.

On Wednesday, May 11, team members completed 20 Flood Cleaning Kits and delivered them Lexington First UMC to be shipped to western Kentucky. Check out the Berea UMC Facebook page to see photos from the event.
