2011 Change for Change
June 16, 2011
This year at Annual Conference, we once again held a friendly competition in order to raise money for Children & Poverty grants that are awarded to local churches. The Kentucky Annual Conference Children's Team set up a table with jars representing each of the twelve districts in our conference at the rear of our meeting space during conference. Participants at the conference were asked to put any spare change they had into the jar representing their district. The total raised was $3,022.00, and Covington, the host district for this year's conference, raised the most of the twelve districts. Kudos to Covington for a job well done.
In addition to the Covington District, the Children's Team would like to thank all that participated in raising funds for the grants that will go to aid local churches. They also thank all the district superintendents who encouraged the friendly spirit of competitiveness among their district attendees. What a wonderful example of how a little loose change can become something big. When everyone’s change is combined, we can make a difference in the lives of many children.
