Sew Much More for Loucon

April 03, 2012

Loucon has been blessed by some pretty amazing sewing ladies! Over the last two years, several sewing groups have descended upon Loucon to take over Turner Lodge with their sewing machines, material, needles, and much more. It has been a breath of fresh air for us, and while it is different from hosting a church group, it has really been a positive ministry for Loucon. Our hosts have really grown close to the quilting ladies. The ladies share their stories, and our staff shares their faith and love for others. I believe our guests have been greatly impacted by the experience, and I know that my staff has loved getting to know the ladies on a personal level.

One quilter that the Loucon staff has grown quite fond of is the owner of a local sewing shop, Sew Much More. This past year her father passed away, and she was looking to do something in memory of her father. She and her local church raised money to replace the floor in Turner Lodge. They removed the original carpet and replaced it with almost 4,000 square feet of hard wood flooring. The group paid for 50% of the overall cost and provided 100% of the labor to install the floor. It is a beautiful floor, and I cannot tell you how many compliments we have had since the floor was installed. It was one of the big projects on our to do list, but it was financially always just a little too far out of reach.

Thanks to a very generous, loving follower of Christ, Turner's floor is “Sew Much More!” I hope you can come out and experience Turner's new floor in the very near future. Loucon is a product of generous, loving, devoted followers of Christ. It is that generosity that in turn helps us to share the Love and Message of Christ with all who enter our gates.
