Golden Disciples - Food for Thought
Scripture of the Month
“Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned: he (or she) has crossed over from death to life.” John 5:24
Thoughts for the Month
After a trip to England, my former Bible study leader, Anne Graham Lotz, shared an illustration that has long remained with me. She tells of entering the narthex to Westminster Abbey, the site of the coronations of English monarchs since 1066 and where many monarchs and dignitaries are buried. Upon entering, she was struck with how dark, cramped and drab the narthex was… But when the doors were flung open from the narthex to the abbey revealing the full expanse of this sacred place, it was a breathtaking sight!
How could anyone visit Westminster Abbey and be satisfied to stay in the narthex, with no thought to passing through to be enveloped in the glory that lies beyond in the cathedral?
Our lives on this earth are like the narthex to a splendid cathedral. They are simply an area to pass through on our way to the glory of eternal life that lies beyond the door of death.
Prayer of the Month
During this season of Holy Week and Easter, may our focus be on Jesus and the sacrifice He made so that we believers will pass through the door of death – into the glory of Heaven and eternal life – where we will live with God forever…. And may we give heartfelt thanks and praise for His unspeakable Gift!
Senior Ministry Tip
Look for ways to illustrate God’s goodness to you. Then share with others the message of His loving care and presence in your life.
