Walgreens to be a Part of Our Healthcare Network Again
July 26, 2012
We are pleased to share with you that Express Scripts and Walgreens have reached an agreement for Walgreens to participate as an in-network retail pharmacy and as a result our members that are a part of the Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield Healthcare Plan will be able to use their pharmacy benefit at Walgreens stores beginning September 15, 2012.
Express Scripts is the prescription Provider for Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield which is the administrator of the Kentucky Conference health plan.
Effective September 15, 2012, new and existing members, including those enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid plans, will have Walgreens as one of their in-network pharmacies to choose from. Other Walgreens-owned pharmacies, such as Duane Reade and Happy Harry's will also be considered as network pharmacies.
Anthem is working with Express Scripts to ensure a smooth transition for members who may wish to transfer their prescriptions to Walgreens. In most cases, members may simply take their medicine bottle to the new drug store and the drug store will transfer the prescription. Members can also continue to use their current pharmacy.
We are sending this notice out as a "public service" to everyone, even those not on the Kentucky Conference health plan who may have missed this news.
