2012 Leaders' Convocation

October 14, 2012

The 2012 Leader's Convocation was hosted at Middletown UMC on Saturday, October 13th. Over 130 people were in attendance from all over the state.  During the worship service, Bishop Davis delivered the sermon in which he asked of all the leaders there, "How are we doing in the business of curing souls?"  That was just one of many things for everyone present to think about.

After the worship service, the meeting moved on to discuss "Growing Healthy Churches." New Church Development discussed the goal of planting 16 new churches each year by 2016 to insure the growth of the Kentucky Conference of The United Methodist Church. We heard encouraging testimonial from Kevin Griffin, pastor of Buechel UMC, about how he has been able to have new growth in his church after it had been in a state of decline for decades. Excited, encouraged and inspired by the healthy growth of this church and so many others across the conference, the Bishop stated, "...when a church is coming alive, you can just feel it."
