Advent is About Preparing

November 29, 2012

Preparation. What thoughts come to your mind when you hear or see the word “preparation?” How have you experienced “preparation” in the last year? Did you prepare your garden soil before you planted your seed? Did you prepare the ingredients before you made your cake? Did your child prepare their book bag with the necessary books, pencils, and markers they will need for school? Did you prepare the car before taking a long trip?

What role does preparation play in your spiritual life? It is so tempting in these days of preparing for Christmas to neglect our spiritual life. Advent is a time for us to be intentionally preparing for the coming of Christ into our lives. Too often, these days are spent rushing and frantically marking off our “to-do” list. What if we were intentional to spend Advent as a time of reflection, praying, and worship – a time of preparation for Immanuel, God with us.
Here are resources that will help you, your family, and your church prepare for the coming of Christ this Advent Season.
