2013 Winter Blitz a Great Time for All

February 01, 2013

Winter Blitz 2013 was an undeniable success. Over 2200 people consisting of youth, young adults and youth workers from throughout the conference converged on Broadbent Arena in downtown Louisville, KY for the 2013 edition of this Kentucky Conference youth event.

As registration opened on Friday night youth groups from around the state began to file in and the fun began. As groups waited for the activities to began impromptu games of Frisbee and freeze tag broke out. Folks also used that time to catch up with old friends and to make new friends. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming.

Session one featured Reggie Dabbs as the keynote speaker , worship with Mosteller and fun and frivolity with the Bucket Boys.  The mood was rocking and the message of Christ was fully in engaged, making for a fun, high energy worship experience. Saturday morning was met with more worship and praise before the groups participated in a variety of mission trips. The youths that participated in the mission trips participated in a range of activities that ranged from cleaning homeless encampments under bridges to organizing food pantries. Saturday night concluded with a late night concert by the band Hawk Nelson.
On Saturday, the call was made for those that wanted to seek or acknowledge their call to Christian Discipleship to come forward. As they came forward there were leaders there to pray with them and to help them discern their next steps.  On Sunday the altar call was for those that felt that they were being called to use their gifts to serve. Between the two altar calls over one thousand youth responded.
This year's mission offering raised over $2,500 dollar which will be split between Imagine No Malaria and our Conference Mission trip to Honduras.
