Bethany UMC Does Outreach By Cars
October 02, 2013
The 3rd Annual Bethany UMC of Louisville Open Car Show is this weekend. Saturday, October 5th with registration from 9:00a-12:00pm. The Awards Ceremony is in the Sanctuary at 3:00pm. Registration is $15 per car and all participants get FREE food (while supplies last). Dash Plaques will be given to the first 100 registrants and t-shirts to the first 25 registrants. During the day there will be lots of music, lots of door prizes, and a whole lot of fun. Rain date is Sunday, October 6, 1:30p-5:00p.
The car show’s mission is to reach out into the community and raise the awareness of Bethany UMC and Christ’s love with our neighbors in Southwest Jefferson County. As participants come the church puts out their very best in radical hospitality with free food, music and home baked goodies. Bethany gets an opportunity to share with car enthusiast and other guests the ministries and programs that happen at the church throughout the year.
To offset cost for the event (i.e. trophies, food and door prizes), the church pounds the pavement for corporate sponsors. These sponsors – plus registrations gives some monies left over at the end of the day that the church uses to support the ministries and programs of the congregation. This past year the need came from our mission team that fell $700 short of their yearly goal. The car show committee heard the cry and made up the difference. So now the missions team is meeting to praise God and plan for next year’s mission plans to fully fund the local, state and world missions that they feel called to support.
We invite anyone and everyone that has a heart for classic cars or good fellowship to come join us and feel the hospitality of Bethany UMC in Southwest Jefferson County.
Bethany UMC is located at 6100 Moorman Road in Valley Station (40272). That is Exit 1 on the Gene Snyder Freeway and south ½ mile, next to Thorntons.
