Typhoon Haiyan Update and Bulletin Insert

November 13, 2013

This week the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) approved a grant to provide emergency food, water, and water purification tablets to 7,500 people (about 1,500 families) in Tacloban City, Leyte Province, which was devastated by Super Typhoon Haiyan when it barreled across the Philippines on November 8.

Tacloban suffered the greatest casualties, although estimates remain inconclusive at this time. At least 670,000 people across the country were displaced by the storm.

In the coming days, UMCOR will conduct needs assessments and will plan additional assistance, including material aid through the UMCOR Relief-Supply Network.
