KY Conference Youth Mission Trip Wrap-up
The 2014 mission trip to Honduras was an exciting time for the six youth and the five "older" youth who journeyed there. We were warmly greeted with a sign outlined in corn seed and black beans. We had anticipated having 30 students in the school and to be on the safe side, we had taken VBS materials and crafts for 50. We had 104! We really needed a loaves and fishes miracle.
The construction crew accomplished their assignments---11 cement floors, 2 latrines, a room addition and a pila (water reservoir). I am so very proud of our young people. They worked hard each and every day.
The Pech Indians have a language of their own, but did speak Spanish. We plan on returning to the same village next year. The trip will be June 28th- July 4th. I encourage any rising high school junior or senior who might be interested in going to contact David Sparks at dsparks@kyumc.org.
