First Ever Loucon Day Camp a Success

July 22, 2014

For decades, second graders through graduating seniors have spent a week of their summers learning, playing, worshiping, and growing at Camp Loucon. Most would say that these weeks have been some of the best of their lives. At Loucon, we desire for everyone to have the opportunity to have the camp experience, no matter their age.

That’s why this year Loucon took camp outside its own gates to the 4-7 year olds of the Elizabethtown District. Held from 8am-5pm at Memorial UMC in Elizabethtown, kids became campers for a week where they experienced the love and message of Christ through silly songs, crafts, swimming, bible skits, folk dancing, and more.
With the first Loucon day camp being a great success, both campers and parents are already looking to next summer. One parent shared, “I just want to thank you guys so much for all your hard work this week. My daughter comes home with some of the best stories and looks forward to going to camp every single morning. I am so glad we found this camp and I will definitely be signing her up again for future camps if you guys come to Elizabethtown again. Again, thank you for everything. You guys are awesome!”
It’s our hope that day camps will become a summertime staple in several of the districts that support Loucon, giving younger kids a taste of what camp is like, but more importantly a glimpse of Christ’s love.
