Everett Appointed to KY Commission on Human Rights

Gov. Steve Beshear has appointed Rev. Anthony Everett to the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights to serve for a term ending Sept. 12, 2015.

Anthony is the pastor of Wesley UMC in the Lexington district. He will represents the state at large in his role with the commission.

The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights enforces the Kentucky Civil Rights Act and the U.S. Civil Rights Act. These laws make discrimination illegal. The Commission works to end discrimination and promote equality for everyone.

The Kentucky Human Rights Board of Commissioners consists of 11 commissioners who are appointed by the Governor. They represent the seven judicial districts of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and also the state-at-large.

The Board of Commissioners is charged with ruling on discrimination complaints for the people of Kentucky with the authority of a court of law.

Anthony joins Duane Bonifer, director of Public Relations at Lindsey Wilson College, as United Methodists that are living out our social principles as they serve the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
